Misogyny

Recently, i went to an informal dinner get together at my relatives place. There are only few of us. After chatting for sometime, we all proceed to dine. The dinner was simply south and delicious. Among us was a middle-aged couple and the person praised the host saying how tasty the food was, etc... and finally he said to his wife 'learn from her (the host) how to make such tasty rasam'.

Hearing this i was aghast. They are married for atleast 20 years. Wont she know how to make a rasam. U can definitely pour praises but not at someone else's cost. Why all males have this kind of attitude. What if his wife got interested in another guys dressing sense and told in front of everyone why shouldnt u learn from him how to dress in a trendy fashion, or learn to behave chivalrously, or so many other things that one can learn from other guy. Definitely it wont look nice, so its the same way with guys too, isnt it. Why this kind of male attitude is universally accepted. No doubt, a female counterpart is given an impertinent tag if she shows such an attitude.

The saving grace is none of us respond to his title-tattle. We neither encouraged him by laughing nor took his comment lightly by giving a light-hearted comment. And moreover the wife ignored it in a rude manner which made him shut up for a while.

I finally discovered a singular advantage of married to an introvert. I don't have to bear such misogynist remarks.
